Born Pretty Store - Metallic Nail Polish Mirror Effect Shiny Metal Nail Polish Review

Today I have a review to share with you on Born Pretty Store - Metallic Nail Polish Mirror Effect Shiny Metal Nail Polish.

Born Pretty reached out to me to review some products and I jumped at the chance, as always.  I've reviewed for them in the past and have had nothing but positive experiences.  When I went through what they had available for review, I was thrilled to see this Metallic Nail Polish Mirror Effect Shiny Metal Nail Polish because it was a mirror effect that didn't require Gel Polish.  I've never tried Gel Polish, and to be honest, it doesn't appeal to me.   I change my polish almost daily, so it's more of a hassle than anything.

When I received the Metallic Nail Polish Mirror Effect Shiny Metal Nail Polish, the color I had specifically chosen was "Blue Enchantress".  I immediately grabbed a nail wheel and applied it to two fake nails.  It applied and it was a bit streaky, I was sad, but once it dried, the streaks mostly went away and it really did have a mirror-like finish.  I was excited again!

I applied a Quick Dry Top Coat to one of fake nail swatches and those streaks resurfaced a bit.  It wasn't as much as the initial application, but they were visible.  So I thought to myself, no top coat for this one.

A few days pass and I finally sit down and do my nails.   I prep them with my base coat.  Once dry I go & apply the Metallic Nail Polish Mirror Effect Shiny Metal Nail Polish and it kind of melts a bit, separating, leaving it extremely patchy.  I tried again with a sticky base coat, but I still had the same results.  So I did it again, but with no base coat.

This time it worked as nicely as it did on my nail wheel swatches.  I applied 2 coats easily, and they dried fast on their own, and with that Metallic Mirror effect.

Except for one thing.

My nails are ridged as hell.

Without my base coat, you can see EVERY ridge my nail has to offer.

So, when you see my swatches, be nice, naked isn't always pretty!

Nail stick swatch shot to show how pretty it is if you have un-ridged nails.

Overall, the product itself worked great, it was just me, and my nails it wasn't right for.  Let me know if you have any other ideas on a base coat that would work well with this kind of finish, I'd love to wear this without seeing my ridges.

Cuticula Scented Nail Tape - Strawberry Lemonade November 2017 Polish Pickup

Hi everyone! Today I have something really special and exciting to share with you!  I have Cuticula Scented Nail Tape's contribution to the November 2017 Polish Pickup.  The theme for the month is Fandoms, and Amanda, the maker of Cuticula chose "Fluttershy" from "My Little Pony" as her inspiration.

~Press Sample~

First let me tell you a little about Fluttershy.  Fluttershy is a female Pegasus pony, and one of the main characters of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. She lives in a small cottage near the Everfree Forest and takes care of animals. She represents the element of kindness.

Now, you may be wondering, "what's Polish Pickup?"

Polish Pickup is a group on Facebook that is a fun, interactive experience that allows you to submit theme ideas and then vote for your favorite theme!  Then, different nail polish brands will create polishes based off these themes that they will have available on the Polish Pickup website for the first Friday through Monday of each month where you can selectively purchase your favorite polishes.  The process then repeats for the following month.

This month is Cuticula Scented Nail Tape's first month being a part of Polish Pickup and she created Strawberry Lemonade Scented Nail Tape.

Nail Tape is used primarily in creating nail art.  You apply it around your cuticles like I have shown above prior to doing any art, or even just to aid in clean up when applying your nail polish.  Once it dries, it acts as a barrier between your skin and whatever nail art you are doing.  Once you remove it, the skin underneath is clean from all the nail polish, which saves your skin from constantly being abused by acetone, which can be extremely drying.

Cuticula's Nail Tape varies in color and scent.  The scent above is Strawberry Lemonade and it smells just like it sounds!  The official description is a refreshing blend of sweet fresh strawberries and lemon slices.

Lemon is the scent that is most prominent to my nose, but it's a sweet kind of lemon scent because it has hints of those strawberries surrounding it.

Here is what it looks like after I have done some stamping.

Once you peel it off, all you have to do is touch up some spots you may have missed, and apply your top coat and you're done!

One of my favorite things about Cuticula over other liquid latex is its peel.  When you're finished with your art, and you go to remove the Nail Tape, it peels so cleanly!  I've used other brands that peel off in chunks, and can get into your mani, ruining it, but not Cuticula!

Keep an eye out soon on my Instagram for a demo video using Strawberry Lemonade, and the nail art mani I have shown above!

Fancy Gloss - New Releases

Today I've got two beautiful polishes that I am excited to share with you from Fancy Gloss!

~Press Sample~

One polish is a topper, named Masquerade, and the other one is Gold Nugget, a gorgeous glitzy gold with some subtle, but gorgeous shimmer throughout.

They will be available for purchase October 27, 2017 at 8pm EST.

Let's get into the swatches shall we?

Masquerade

This beauty is the topper.  It's a flakie topper and it's gorgeous.  It applies very smoothly, it isn't thick, but you don't have to fish to get good coverage either.  It removes easily too!

Shown here is one coat over Fancy Gloss Grape Soda.  Isn't it gorgeous?

I added a matte top coat, and I love it even more.

I added one coat of the topper over Fancy Gloss Pink Dreams.

I was going to do this with matte top coat too but I had to run out to the supermarket and broke my nail! I'm totally down to nubbins, so I was unable to matte this for you.

Gold Nugget

Next up is this golden beauty!  It's holographic with a slight reddish shimmer.  Shown in my swatches is two coats plus top coat.  The formula was excellent.  It removed easily as well! Also, bonus for anyone who stamps, this golden beauty stamps amazingly well.

Shown here is the flakie topper on top of the Gold Nugget! I really like this combination! It reminds me of Mardi Gras!

The Howling Boutique's Supermoon Lacquer - Sailor Guardians Collection

Hi guys!  Today I have a very exciting post to share with you guys!  I have The Howling Boutique's Supermoon Lacquer's Sailor Guardians Collection!

This collection consists of ten gorgeous polishes all inspired by Sailor Moon!  So get ready for a lot of pictures!

I'm going to include an except from the maker, Mardi:

"This collection is inspired by the iconic Japanese anime Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon (also referred to as Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon), which originally debuted in 1991 as an 18-volume shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Naoko Takeuchi. In 1992, it was adapted into an animated (anime) series that ran until 1997 and includes five seasons, three feature films, three short films, and a TV special. Sailor Moon is one of the most popular manga/anime series in history with the title character being recognized as one of the most important – and popular – female superheroes of all time.

Each of the polishes in this collection represents one of the ten main Sailor Guardians (or Sailor Scouts) featured in the anime. In addition to my own description of the colors, I’ve included a snippet about the character it’s based on."

With each polish I show you, I am going to include her description, and the inspiration photo she used for each.

Credit for the inspiration photos goes to:  Sarah Meadows at https://www.artstation.com/pookiechu

I love anime, but I never watched Sailor Moon, and the descriptions helped me understand the characters, and acted as an inspiration for my nail art, which I will also be sharing in this post!

As always, first details, then swatches!

This collection is set to be released for preorder at 6pm CST on October 20, 2017 through October 23, 2017.  Don't worry though, they will be back November 1, 2017 for the full regular release, at regular price.

The Sailor Guardians Collection is the fourth full collection released from The Howling Boutique's Supermoon Lacquer. It features 10 different nail polishes that will be available for purchase in three ways – as a discounted full set (all 10 polishes), as slightly less discounted half sets (inner set of 5 polishes and outer set of 5 polishes), and non-discounted individual polishes.

The full Sailor Guardians Collection will be available for $99.00 (regular) / $89.00 (pre-sale), and each of the sets (inner/outer) will be $52.00 (regular) / $47.00 (pre-sale).  Individual prices are listed with each polish.

(if you click that ^ you will be taken to youtube for a swatch/application video!)

Aqua Rhapsody

Aqua Rhapsody is described as a deep blue holographic filled with blue and silver/white shimmer, blue and white flakies, holographic flakies, and iridescent teal-blue, holographic and metallic blue, and holographic silver microglitters.
Price:$11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

The formula was flawless, it applied evenly and smoothly.  It doesn't have a textured finish, and removes easily.  Shown in my swatches are two coats and top coat.

"Aqua Rhapsody is based on Ami Mizuno aka Sailor Mercury and named after the special ability she gains in Super S (season four). She is very sweet, gentle, loyal, and extremely intelligent with an IQ rumored to be 300 (people with an IQ score of 144 or higher are considered geniuses). Ami has the power to create and manipulate all forms of water, including ice and clouds of mist/fog, and her Sailor Soldier uniform consists of different shades of blue."

Flame Sniper

Flame Sniper is described as a dark red holographic with copper & red sparks, red-to-copper & purple-to-red color shifting shimmer, iridescent purple flakies, & copper, red, & violet holographic microglitter.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

This polish is amazing.  I usually don't gravitate towards red, but this darker shade is just beautiful. The formula was great, smooth and easy to apply.  It was easy to remove too.

"Flame Sniper is based on Rei Hino aka Sailor Mars and named after the special ability she gains in Super S (season four). She is portrayed as very practical and disciplined, quite often seen at the Hikawa Shrine where she is a mako (or ‘shrine maiden’). Rei has the power to create and control fire, and some psychic abilities such as sensing danger and doing fire-readings. The primary colors of her Sailor Soldier uniform are red and purple."

Love & Beauty Shock

Love and Beauty Shock is described as a bright orange scattered holographic filled with copper, gold, and red shimmer, and copper, gold, and red holographic microglitters.
Price: $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

Again, fantastic formula with no problems to report.  The polish applied smoothly and was not difficult to remove.  My swatch is shown with 2 coats plus glossy top coat.  I do want to note that my camera pulled my pictures of Love and Beauty Shock a tiny bit brighter than how it looks to your naked eye.

"Love And Beauty Shock is based on Minako Aino aka Sailor Venus / Sailor V and named after the special ability she gains in Super S (season four). She was first introduced in her own manga series, Codename: Sailor V, and was ‘awoken’ by a white cat named Artemis. She is portrayed as athletic, romantic, and resilient, and is always depicted with a large red bow in her hair. Minako (or just ‘Mina’) has powers associated primarily with love and light, and her Sailor Soldier uniform consists of the colors orange, yellow, and navy blue."

Oak Evolution

Oak Evolution is described as a bright green scattered holographic filled with reddish-pink and green sparks, green-to-pink color shifting shimmer, and silver, pink, and rose gold holographic microglitter.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

The green with the gold shimmer, is just amazing! Even if you're not a green fan, this polish just might win you over.  The formula was excellent, smooth and easy to apply.  Removal was easy too.  Shown is two coats plus glossy top coat.

"Oak Evolution is based on Makoto Kino aka Sailor Jupiter and named after the special ability she gains in Super S (season four). She is depicted as a tomboy – strong (both physically and mentally) and independent – who loves to bake/cook. Her ‘trademark’ style consists of wearing pink rose stud earrings and having her hair in a constant ponytail. Makoto (or affectionately ‘Mako-chan’) has powers associated with electricity and plants, while also possessing superhuman strength. The primary colors of her Sailor Soldier uniform are green and pink."

Rainbow Moon Heartache

Rainbow Moon Heartache is described as a dark gray holographic multichrome with blue/purple/red chameleon pigment, blue-to-red and blue-to-violet color shifting shimmer, gold and silver/white sparks, gold and silver holographic microglitters, iridescent rainbow microglitter, and holographic and rainbow pearl flakies.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

Gray lovers everywhere need this gorgeous beauty.  It's the perfect angry sky color with an amazing holo sparkle.  The formula is great, no issues to report.  Removal is easy too!  Shown is two coats plus top coat.

"Rainbow Moon Heartache is based on Usagi Tsukino aka Sailor Moon and named after the special ability she gains in S (season three). She is portrayed as a semi-lazy, accident-prone crybaby with an outgoing personality who largely cares about others before herself. A black cat named Luna ‘awakens’ her in the first episode of the anime, granting her abilities associated with the moon, love, and light. She gains additional powers as she grows stronger and her appearance changes several times throughout the series to reflect this. Her various Sailor Soldier uniforms consist mostly of the colors blue, pink, red, white, and yellow."

(if you click that ^ you will be taken to youtube for a swatch/application video!)

Dead Scream

Dead Scream is described as a blackened red-violet holographic duochrome filled with magenta/violet/copper chameleon pigment, red-to-copper and magenta-to-gold color shifting shimmer, red, purple, and green shimmer, iridescent red-to-green microglitter, and black and silver holographic microglitters.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

This polish is too beautiful for words.  It's so vampy and sexy! The formula is excellent, very smooth and easy to apply.  Removal is easy too.  Shown is two coats plus top coat.

"Dead Scream is based on Setsuna Meioh aka Sailor Pluto and named after the special ability she uses for the majority of the anime, starting with her first appearance half-way through Sailor Moon R (season two). She is the oldest out of all the other Guardians and is often described as distant although she consistently displays a fondness for Chibiusa. Setsuna has power over time and space, and guards the Space-Time Door (a time-traveling gate). As Sailor Pluto, she wields a key-shaped staff topped by one of three Talismans – the Garnet Orb – and her Sailor Soldier uniform colors are black and garnet."

Silence Glaive Surprise

Silence Glaive Surprise is described as a dark blue-violet holographic duochrome with copper, purple, and red shimmer, red-to-gold and purple-to-red color shifting shimmer, blue/purple/red chameleon pigment, and silver holographic microglitter.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

I loved this one.  My birthday was this month and this was the polish I wanted to wear for the day.  It's such a gorgeous blurple type of color, and the holo sparkle is strong! Formula was excellent, smooth and easy to apply.  Easy removal too.  Shown is one coat plus top coat.

"Silence Glaive Surprise is based on Hotaru Tomoe aka Sailor Saturn and named after the special ability she uses in the beginning of Sailor Stars (season five). She is described as delicate, quiet, and precocious with numerous special abilities such as healing minor injuries (herself and others) and getting visions of the future. Hotaru’s powers revolve mostly around death and destruction and as Sailor Saturn, she carries a large scythe-like bladed weapon called the Silence Glaive. The primary colors of her Sailor Soldier uniform are purple and maroon."

Space Sword Blaster

Space Sword Blaster is described as a blackened navy blue holographic filled with blue/purple/copper chameleon pigment, gold and blue shimmer, gold and blue flakies, iridescent blue/purple microglitter, and sapphire, silver, and gold holographic microglitters.
Price: $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

The formula was excellent, very smooth and easy to apply and to remove.  Shown is two coats plus top coat.

"Space Sword Blaster is based on Haruka Tenou aka Sailor Uranus and named after the special ability she gains in S (season three). Her personality is described as stubborn, strong-willed, and charming, and she’s shown to have an extremely close relationship with Michiru Kaioh (Sailor Neptune). Haruka is also an accomplished runner and a professional racecar driver. Her powers are associated with the wind and sky with some precognitive abilities, and she wields one of three Talismans – the Space Sword – later on in the series. The primary colors of her Sailor Soldier uniform are navy blue and yellow."

Submarine Reflection

Submarine Reflection is described as a teal holographic duochrome with green/blue/gold chameleon pigment, green-to-blue color shifting shimmer, blue, green, and turquoise shimmer, turquoise flakies, iridescent teal/blue microglitter, and turquoise metallic and holographic microglitters.
Price: $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

This. Polish. Is. Beautiful.  I love bright teals like this.  It's honestly perfect for me.  I can't say enough positive things about it.  I was wearing this the day I got a pedicure, and even the lady at the nail salon commented on how beautiful it was.  The formula was excellent, smooth and easy to apply, and to remove.  Shown is two coats plus top coat.

"Submarine Reflection is based on Michiru Kaioh aka Sailor Neptune and named after the special ability she gains in S (season three). She’s portrayed as calm, sophisticated, and graceful as well as a very talented artist, swimmer, and musician (specifically the violin). Michiru has an extremely close relationship with Haruka Tenou (Sailor Uranus), with whom she is with almost constantly. Her powers are mostly associated with the sea while also having some precognitive abilities. Later on in the series, she comes to possess one of three Talismans – the Deep Aqua Mirror. Her Sailor Soldier uniform colors are teal and cerulean."

Twinkle Yell

Twinkle Yell is described as a bright pink holographic filled with red and silver/white sparks, red-to-gold color shifting shimmer, neon pink flakies, and iridescent, metallic, and holographic pink and magenta microglitter.
Price:  $11.00 (regular) / $10.00 (pre-sale)

This pink is so pretty and bright! Im not typically a pink kind of girl, but i truly did love this color.  The formula was excellent, smooth and easy to  apply and remove.  Shown is two coats plus top coat.

"Twinkle Yell is based on Chibiusa aka Sailor Chibi Moon and named after the phrase used to summon Pegasus in Super S (season four). She is the future daughter of Usagi Tsukino (Sailor Moon) and travels back in time to first seek help from the Sailor Guardians before later returning to train as a Guardian herself. She’s portrayed mostly as a brat, often picking on and getting into fights with present day Usagi (despite both of them knowing of their future mother-daughter relationship). Chibiusa’s abilities are mostly used in conjunction with magical weapons or items, and to boost the overall power of Sailor Moon’s special attacks. The colors of her Sailor Soldier uniform consist mostly of pink, red, white, and yellow."

That was a lot of pictures wasn't it?  It was so worth it though!

This whole collection is just amazing.  I felt like a broken record when I talked formula, but each polish had an excellent formula across the board.  Picking a favorite is really hard, as I really did love each one.  If I had to choose only one, I think I would pick Submarine Reflection, as that bright teal shade always captures my full attention.
